DESCRIPTION

JSI is a public health management consulting and research organization dedicated to improving the health of individuals and communities throughout the world over the last forty years. JSI is currently seeking an outstanding Finance Assistant in Indonesia for a portfolio of activities on the Country Health Information System and Data Use (CHISU) global cooperative agreement funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). CHISU in Indonesia is a 3-year program (2022-2025) designed to enhance host country capacity to produce high-quality health information, to optimally manage this information, and to institutionalize evidence-based decision-making. In Indonesia, CHISU is working with the Center for Data and Information Technology (Pusdatin) and other health directorates to strengthen the governance enabling environment for HIS, increase interoperability of information systems, improve data analysis and use, and strengthen organizational development of local partners.

In support of this, CHISU in Indonesia is seeking a Finance Assistant. The Finance Assistant will support the financial operations of the USAID CHISU, ensuring compliance with USAID & JSI regulations and project policies. This role involves maintaining financial records, processing payments, and assisting in the preparation of financial reports. The Finance Assistant will work directly under the supervision of the Senior Operation Manager and collaborate closely with the CHISU Operations team in Indonesia.

This is anticipated to be a full-time position based in Jakarta, Indonesia.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Finance Assistant will be responsible to ensure efficient and successful implementation of project activities with the following duties:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including transactions, invoices, receipts, and payments.
  • Ensure all financial documentation is properly filed and compliant with USAID regulations and project policies.
  • Process payments to vendors, consultants, and staff in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Ensure all payments are supported by appropriate documentation and are in compliance with USAID and project financial procedures.
  • Assist in preparing for audits and financial reviews by maintaining organized records and providing necessary documentation.
  • Address audit findings and implement recommendations in collaboration with the Finance Officer and Senior Operation Manager.
  • Ensure all financial activities comply with USAID regulations and project policies.
  • Stay updated on changes in financial regulations and ensure compliance accordingly.
  • Provide administrative support to the finance team as needed.
  • Provide support on cost share calculation and documentation as per CHISU requirements and standards.
  • Participate in financial training and capacity-building activities.
  • Assist the Finance Officer and Senior Operations Manager in responding to the monthly Financial Review from the Home Office.
  • Assist in organizing and preparing financial documents for submission to the Home Office.
  • Any other work assigned by the supervisor.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a finance or accounting role, preferably within an international development context.
  • Experience working on USAID-funded projects is highly desirable
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Understanding and familiarity with Indonesian tax regulations and withholding tax calculations.
  • Strong understanding of financial management principles and practices.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills required.
  • Accuracy in working with large amounts of data.
  • Ability to respond effectively to time sensitive inquiries.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of internal controls and audit processes.
  • An extremely well organized and self-directed individual with sound technical skills, analytical ability, good judgment, and strong operational focus.
  • Native/Fluent Bahasa and practical knowledge of English are required.
  • Skills in QuickBooks accounting software are preferable.
  • Preferably familiar with tax exemption procedures.


Salary commensurate with experience.
