DAI Fleming Fund Country Grant to Indonesia Phase 2 Country Grant 1 is seeking

a ‘National Antimicrobial Resistance and Antimicrobial Stewardship Advisor’ to lead development of strategies and guidelines for human health

Background

The Fleming Fund Country Grant to Indonesia is supporting the government in implementing the National Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) Action Plan. The fund supports strategies to monitor and contain AMR and to monitor antimicrobial consumption and use (AMC/U) and improve antimicrobial stewardship (AMS). The Fleming Fund Country Grant Indonesia is being implemented by a consortium led by DAI with partners KIRE, Health Security Partners, Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine and Prevalensi Nusantara. The implementation of the fund adopts a One Health approach supporting activities across the human, terrestrial animal, and aquatic animal sectors. The project seeks to strengthen current surveillance of AMR and AMU/C by working closely with the Ministries of Health, Agriculture and Marine Affairs and Fisheries and provincial counterparts to support capacity development in relation to laboratories and testing, surveillance, and information management. The project will also support and seek to engage private sector interests including healthcare providers and animal production industry stakeholders.

 

Purpose of This Post

DAI Fleming Fund Country Grant to Indonesia is seeking a dynamic and experienced professional for a Short-Term Technical Assistance Subject Matter Expert (STTA) position National Antimicrobial Resistance and Antimicrobial Stewardship Advisor.

 

Description of Duties

Reporting to the Senior Technical Programme Lead, this role works in consultation with FFCGI, Ministry of Health (MoH) and hospital stakeholders.

 

Specific responsibilities include:

 

  1. AMR policy and planning: Develop draft AMR surveillance strategy and protocol for human health through engagement with government stakeholders.
  2. AMU/AMC policy and planning: Develop draft AMU/AMC surveillance strategies and protocols for human health through engagement with human health in consultation with key government stakeholders under the leadership of FFCGI.
  3. Clinical engagement on AMR containment: Informed by hospital self-assessment results, review site plans with hospitals and other stakeholders to determine and deliver capacity strengthening interventions and develop a clinical engagement framework, refining the plans then delivering agreed interventions including laboratory-clinician AMR containment discussions.  Contribute to revision and use of guidelines at specific sites.
  4. AMS policy and planning: Engage with key stakeholders to review and contribute to an updated AMS national strategy.

 

Key deliverables

  1. AMR Surveillance Strategy and Protocol: A strategy and protocol for AMR surveillance in human health, developed in collaboration with the MoH and KPRA.
  2. Draft AMU/AMC Surveillance Strategy and Protocol: Provide substantial input to the development of the draft strategy and protocol, incorporating insights from the MoH and KPRA.
  3. Clinical Engagement Framework and Site Plans:  Tailored engagement frameworks and site-specific plans to address AMR containment needs and enhance clinical practices.
  4. Guidelines for Specific Clinical Interventions: Tailored guidelines to support effective AMR containment interventions at individual hospital sites.
  5. Updated Draft AMS National Strategy: A revised and improved draft of the national AMS strategy, incorporating the insights and recommendations from this role.

 

Qualifications and Skills

·       Clinical microbiologist (SpMK) with minimum 10 years work experience

·       Ability to conduct research and desk review and prepare comprehensive and concise summaries/reports.

·       Good communication skills (written and oral) in English and Bahasa Indonesia.

 

Desirable

·       Familiarity with the human and animal health sectors; One Health approach; Global Health Security.

 

Supervision

The consultant will work under the direct supervision of Senior Technical Programme Lead.

 

Level of Effort/Timeline

The level of effort will be determined based on the selected candidate’s a number of factors including skillset and experience. The employment agreement will start by October through December 2025 with possibility of an extension. He/she will require occasional travel to other parts of Indonesia.

 

Nationality

Indonesian national.

 

Remuneration and package

Remuneration and package will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience.

Jakarta with travel to hospitals around Indonesia
