Job Description
The Institute for Development Impact (I4DI), the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), and Mars Inc. are implementing a four-year $7.2 million Global Development Alliance to improve farmer livelihoods and enhance evidence-based agroforestry practices in the Indonesian cocoa sector. Through the Advancing Cocoa Agroforestry towards Income, Value, and Environmental Sustainability (ACTIVE) partnership, USAID, Mars, Inc., and I4DI are using their collective resources to address critical cocoa supply and deforestation challenges that are negatively affecting farmers in South and Southeast Sulawesi, Indonesia. This Alliance will improve smallholder farmer income and reduce deforestation and greenhouse gas emissions through advancements in applying cocoa agroforestry best practices and creating a more conducive government policy environment that enables private sector engagement.
ACTIVE will help 9,000 farmers adapt to climate change and manage their cocoa farms with sustainable practices. This support aims to reduce an estimated 650,000 tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e), increase farmers' cocoa yields by 30 percent, and increase their incomes by 15 percent.
Under the direction of the MEL Manager, the MEL associate will support the MEL Manager in implementing and mainstreaming the results measurement framework across the organization. This position will be based in Makassar City, South Sulawesi.
Requirements
Key criteria:
- Relevant undergraduate or postgraduate qualifications from any majors
- Having experience in monitoring and evaluation, impact measurement, socio-economic research, or rural development programs.
- Highly proficient in using Microsoft Office, exclusively MS-ExcelTM for data analysis, and Google Applications.
- Proven attention to detail, ability to work independently, and independence in completing tasks
- Proven strong skills in qualitative and quantitative research design as well as data analysis
- Proven skills in statistics
- Having written and active communication skills in Indonesian and English
Desirable criteria:
- Experienced in operating mobile data collection apps (Kobo Collect, CAPI, etc.)
- Having skills in using STATA, SPSS, or other statistic software
- Having knowledge about the cocoa sector and agroforestry will be a plus point
