[newdevjobsindo] Invitation to tender – RFP No. 83415475 Bioframe Pilot Project

Invitation to tender – RFP No. 83415475

Project No /Name           : 19.9010.0-003.00

Brief project title             : Bioframe Pilot Project

Country                             : Indonesia

Dear Sir/Madam,

The IKI Support Project for the Design and Implementation of the New Global Biodiversity Framework (BioFrame) is funded by the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection (BMUV) through the International Climate Initiative. It aims to support key stakeholders in the negotiations of the new post-2020 global biodiversity framework and the first steps of its implementation in partner countries. It is implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH a service provider in the field of international cooperation and a German Federal Enterprise.

One of the pilot projects is supports the development of the supply chain of illipe butter in Westkalimantan, Indonesia. The pilot project is referred to as "Tengkawang Pilot Project" and it is linked to Sustainable Agricultural Supply Chains in Indonesia (SASCI) project, which supports the Government of Indonesia in its efforts to reduce GHG emissions from deforestation and forest degradation caused by smallholder agriculture. The aim of the project is to combine economic recovery with the restoration and conservation of forest ecosystems. Lessons learned from this activity will contribute to mainstreaming biodiversity and climate-related aspects into national economic recovery efforts as well as into processes under the CBD and the new Global Biodiversity Framework.

Conservation and restoration of forest ecosystems is focusing on the existence of Tengkawang in the intervention area the Labian Laboyan watershed. This is done planting Tengkawang trees and a survey to abundance as they are a key species for forest ecosystems and are found mainly found in these biodiverse systems. For the district Kapuas Hulu, it is believed that the Tengkawang tree is dominated by the species Shorea stenoptera. However, it is known that other species such as S. macrophylla, S. pinanga, S. amplexiaulis, S. mecistoptheryx, S. beccariana, S. pilosa and S. splendida are found in the district. The abundance and properties of the nuts could allow the use of the listed species for production of illipe butter outside the harvesting season of S. stenoptera.

GIZ project is currently seeking a Contractor/Company/Institution to conduct a Survey in four villages in the Labian watershed to identify the present Shorea species and abundance. The detail services is set forth in the attached of Term of Reference and other annexes.
