The role of the Mentor in this program is pivotal in supporting partner merchants in the implementation of the Sustainable Packaging Playbook, a guideline developed to reduce single-use packaging waste in alignment with the Ministry of Environment and Forestry Regulation No. 75/2019. The Mentor will provide hands-on assistance, guidance, and monitoring to selected merchants across Jakarta, Bandung, and Bali during the piloting phase. Each mentor will be responsible for a group of 3–7 merchants within a specific city, ensuring that they understand, adopt, and adapt sustainable packaging practices suited to their operations. This role is both strategic and operational, requiring strong communication, facilitation, and coordination skills.
What you will do
Participate in the Training of Trainers (ToT) to equip mentors with knowledge on the playbook and facilitation skills.
Facilitate Merchant Training Sessions, helping merchants understand the purpose, tools, and steps for sustainable packaging transition.
Act as Point of Contact (PIC) for 5–10 assigned merchants, providing hands-on assistance throughout the pilot.
Support Baseline Survey & Strategy Development: Help merchants fill out baseline surveys and formulate initial transition strategies.
Guide Implementation during Pilot Phase:
Ensure merchants follow the recommended steps in the playbook.
Monitor progress and provide ongoing feedback.
Conduct mid-pilot evaluations and suggest adjustments if necessary.
Assist in Endline Survey: Guide merchants in evaluating the transition's impact, including customer feedback and business performance.
Conduct Regular Communication: Check in with each merchant at least once a week via call, message, or Zoom.
Conduct Monthly Field Visits to each assigned merchant to provide on-site support and assessment.
Submit Monitoring Reports: Fill out monthly monitoring instruments (qualitative and quantitative) for each merchant.
Coordinate with the BESTARI team as needed and attend biweekly virtual meetings to share updates and insights.
What you will need
Final-year Student, Fresh Graduate, or Bachelor's majoring in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Sustainability Management, or other related fields.
Possess a minimum of 1 (one) year of professional or volunteerwork experience with corporate assistance programs, mentorship roles, or similar initiatives focused on corporate sustainability.
Proven experience in facilitation, mentorship, or capacity-building programs.
Familiarity with issues of plastic waste, sustainable packaging, or circular economy is a plus.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage and support merchants effectively.
Willingness and ability to travel within one assigned city (Jakarta, Bandung, or Bali).
Comfortable with both online and offline working environments (Zoom, Menti, etc.).
Ability to document merchant progress clearly and consistently.
